Jack Stekelenburg

Bio

Since 2005 I’ve created one of a kind, abstract metal sculptures.  I follow in the footsteps of my philosophical and artistic mentors, as I create art as an unconscious, unscripted, wordless act of emotional expression.  Sometimes my work is representational but most often not.

It was 2005 and the time was right. I took a course in welding, initially so I could create garden art blue herons, but upon completing the course I lost all interest in garden art and began my journey into abstract metal sculptures. At first my art was simple, in fact so much so that my friends called some of my earlier work, "boat anchors", but that did not dissuade me. Over the next few years my work has evolved into a personal and unique style that is not seen anywhere else.

Recently I added a blacksmith forge to my arsenal of tools at my disposal allowing me to shape and manipulate metal in a much greater and unique manner.
